IN RESPONSE TO THE PRESERVATIONIST-ORIENTED RECONSTRUCTION OF BERLIN'S MUSEUM INSEL, THIS PROJECT RE-IMAGINES ONE OF SCHINKEL'S ICONIC STRUCTURES, SCHLOSSBRÜCKE, AS AN ARCHITECTURAL ARTIFACT WHICH RATHER THAN BEING 'PROTECTED', SHOULD BE RE-FRAMED. BY ELEVATING THE BRIDGE ONTO LAND AND CREATING A BUILDING THAT HOVERS ABOVE IT, A NEW HORIZON COUND BE CREATED FOR ITS SCULPTURES THAT, THROUGH TIME, HAVE BEEN SWALLOWED BY THEIR CITY.
THIS PROJECT WAS APART OF THE EXHIBITION TYPES AND PIPES AT CORNELL UNIVERSITY'S DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE ART AND PLANNING ON MAY 10, 2017 –– CURATED BY MONA MAHALL OF M-A-U-S-E-R.
